1.The Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team that competes in the National Football League (NFL). The Cowboys compete in the NFL’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are headquartered in Frisco, Texas, and play their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which opened for the 2009 season. The stadium took the place of the partially demolished Texas Stadium, which served as the Cowboys’ home from 1971 through 2008.
2.The Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919, and is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team based in the United States. Home games have been played at Lambeau Field since 1957.
The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1922 and before. Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, the franchise traces its lineage to other semi-professional teams in Green Bay dating back to 1896. Between 1919 and 1920, the Packers competed against other semi-pro clubs from around Wisconsin and Michigan, before joining the American Professional Football Association (APFA), now known as the NFL, in 1921. Although Green Bay is by far the smallest major league professional sports market in North America, Forbes ranked The Packers as the world’s 26th most valuable sports franchise in 2016, with a value of $2.35 billion. The Packers have won 13 league championships, more than any other team in NFL history; with nine pre–Super Bowl NFL titles and four Super Bowl victories.

6.The History
This is a big game for both teams as the Packers are currently leading the NFC North with a 7-3 record while the Cowboys are right behind them with a 6-4 record. This will be the second time these two teams have played each other this season, with the Packers winning the first game in Dallas back in October. The Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers are two of the most iconic and successful teams in NFL history. Though they have only played each other twenty-four times since the inception of the Super Bowl, their rivalry is one of the most storied in football.
The Cowboys and Packers first met on the gridiron in 1960, when the Packers were still in the pre-Super Bowl era. Since then, they have played each other twice a year, with exception to when one team or the other is not scheduled to play in Dallas or Green Bay during a given season. The two teams have met in the playoffs seven times, with the Packers winning five of those contests. The most recent meeting was in 2016, when the Cowboys beat the Packers in a thrilling divisional round game.
Despite their long history, there is no clear-cut reason why these two teams should be rivals. Their geographical proximity does not help to explain it, as there are many other NFL teams that are closer to either Dallas or Green Bay. Nor does their shared success – both teams have won multiple Super Bowls and have had many legendary players suit up for them over the years.
One possible explanation for their rivalry is that they are simply polar opposites when it comes to their fan base and culture. The Cowboys are often seen as America’s Team – a glamorous squad full of star power that attracts fans from all over the country. On the other hand, the Packers are seen as blue-collar underdogs who play in one of the smallest markets in professional sports. Whatever the reason may be, there is no denying that when these two teams meet on the field, it is always must-see TV.
8.The Coaches
The Coaches: Jason Garrett (left) and Mike McCarthy
The Dallas Cowboys are coached by Jason Garrett, who is in his eighth season as the team’s head coach. Garrett has a career record of 77–59, and has led the team to two NFC East division titles (2014, 2016). The Green Bay Packers are coached by Mike McCarthy, who is in his 12th season as the team’s head coach. McCarthy has a career record of 136–78–2, and has led the team to six NFC North division titles (2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016).
