You can use a number of different methods to check your balance. Some of the most common methods are through your credit card, email, or phone. If you don’t know what method is available for your bank, just contact them and ask how you can check your balance.
The grt card is a prepaid debit card that can be used to withdraw money from ATMs and spend at stores. The card itself doesn’t have any credit on it, but the bank will give you cash back when you use your grt card.

How to check your GRT balance
If you have a GRT card, you can check your balance at any time by logging in to your account online, at a self-serve terminal, or through the mobile app. If you’re using the Yellow Line or ION, you can also check your balance through the links below.
Notification of your balance is also available through the myGRT app for iOS and Android devices, as well as the myPRTFS app for Apple Watch.
If you’re using an older card that isn’t compatible with the new system, you can check your balance at a self-serve kiosk or by calling Customer Service.

What to do if your GRT balance is low
If you have a myGRT card, you can check your balance online or through the myGRT app. If you do not have a myGRT card, you can still check your balance at any GRT fare vending machine or Customer Service Centre.
If your balance is low, you may see a notification at the bottom of your card reader display when you tap your card. You can also see this information in the Trip History section of the myGRT app.
If your balance is running low and you’re not able to add more money to your account, there are still options available to keep using transit:
– Use an alternative payment method: If you have another form of payment (cash, credit/debit card, etc.), you can pay your fare with that instead.
– Use an incompatible system: The Grand River Transit system is compatible with certain other transit systems in the region. If you have a valid fare on one of those systems, you may be able to use it to ride GRT. Check the list of compatible systems here.
– Get a GRT Day Pass: You can buy a Day Pass at any GRT fare vending machine or Customer Service Centre. Day Passes are valid for unlimited travel on GRT buses and trains for one day.

With the GRT MyLink app, riders can check their fare card balance and see their transaction history. The app also provides compatibility with some third-party smart card readers, so you can use it to check your balance on other transit systems as well.

Please note that the fare machines at some older transit links, including Conestoga Mall and Sunrise Centre, are not compatible with the new magnetic stripe cards and will not be able to check balances. However, all other features of these machines, including the ability to add funds and buy passes, will still be available.
What to do if your GRT balance expires
The Grand River Transit (GRT) system offers a variety of ways for riders to check their fare balance and stay up-to-date on their account.
If you have a physical GRT card, you can check your balance at any time by inserting your card into a fare machine located at any GRT stop. Alternatively, you can check your balance online by logging into your account on the GRT website. If your balance is running low, you will receive a notification either through the website or through the physical card reader when you tap your card at a fare machine.
It is important to keep track of your GRT balance, as the card expires 18 months after the date of last use. If you have an active balance on your card when it expires, you can transfer the funds to a new card by visiting any GRT customer service location. You can check your GRT balance online or through the Mystop mobile app. To check your balance online, visit the Waterloo Region website and log in to your account. You will see your current balance as well as your transaction history. You can also sign up for balance notifications, which will send you an email or text message when your balance is low.
To check your balance through the Mystop mobile app, open the app and sign in to your account. tap on the “Cards” tab and then select “Balance.” Here you will see your current balance as well as your transaction history. If you have multiple cards linked to your account, you can choose which card you would like to view the balance for.
How to check your GRT balance by phone
If you have a GRT fare card, you can check your balance by phone, online, or at any GRT fare vending machine.
To check by phone, call 519-585-7555 and press 4 for the automated customer service line. You will need your card number and 4-digit PIN.
To check online, go to the Manage My Card section of the GRT website. You will need your card number and 4-digit PIN. You can also view your transaction history and set up low balance notifications.
To check at a vending machine, tap your card on the reader and select ufffdBalanceufffd from the menu. You can also add funds to your card at any fare vending machine.
